Swimming Literacy
We, at Paul Sadler Swimland believe that learning to swim is important in order to:
- prepare a child for all the aquatic recreation options
- feel safe at a surf beach, and
- gain a skill for life as an alternative means to maintaining fitness.
We would like you to consider that, when your child can comfortably swim 1km, you, as a parent, have done your job and we, as a swimming institution, have supported your child and motivated them through the process.
The beauty of being able to swim for 1km is that the student is able to participate in a variety of great water-based recreational pursuits that previously would not have been possible. Fun activities such as surfing, windsurfing, boating, water-skiing and even lap swimming can be tackled with increased confidence once someone has achieved their Swordy 1km Medal.
Even the growing sport of triathlon is impossible unless you have strong swimming skills. Most people have the necessary skills to run or ride a bike, but struggle to complete the swim component.
