Swimland at the Victorian Championships 2010

9 February 2010

Congratulations to all the Swimland athletes who competed in the recent Victorian State championships. Qualifying for and competing in these Championships takes great commitment and talent in itself, and our athletes competed hard. This included 10 athletes who swam in individual events and relays at the 12 and under championships (held just before Christmas), 16 who competed in the 13-18 years Vic Age championships and 11 athletes who took part in the Vic Open and SWD (Swimmers With a Disability) Championships.

Thanks also to Dylan Joiner and Stephanie Holmes for their efforts in the relays.

Swimland finished with an overall rank of 28th in the 12 & under championships, 50th in the 13 to 18 year meet, and 53rd in the Open/SWD. We look forward to seeing many more of our athletes train well, qualify and enjoy moving up the rankings with us in the next 12 months, as we see the hard work pay off. We will then see more swimmers reach a standard high enough to be rewarded at a meet with one of Head Coach Peter Howes’ ‘Kinder Surprise’ awards for ‘swimmer(s) of the day’! Peter thanks all athletes and the parents and family members who helped with recording statistics and timekeeping across the meets.
