Seven SSC swimmers qualified and competed for Team Aussie in the recent Indian Ocean All Stars Challenge in Perth Australia April 11-12. The 144 member Australian team competing against the Asian Team (116 members) defended their 2008 team title outscoring the Asian team 2575.5 to 2165.5 points with our athletes garnering individual points and supported Team Aussie in Relays. Full Results SSC athletes in attendance were Lachlan Bray, Thomas Gnaden, Brooke Griffin, Jordyn Jackson, Kyle Micallef, Zoe Robertson and Lauren Southall. All swimmers and parents enjoyed the trip to Perth soaking up the warm weather, body surfing, getting Easter surprises, meeting ahtletes from the Asian Team as well as the Aussie Team and performing well in the pool. Our Swimmers competed in 42 individual events posting PB's in 26 swims (61.90%) and improved a total of 51.89 seconds from previous bests. Individual Medals were won by Brooke Griffin GOLD in the 50 BK, SILVER in the 200 BK, 50 FLY and BRONZE in the 100 BK and 200 FLY. Zoe Robertson snatched her BRONZE medal in the 100 FLY. There were a number of top age group performances as some events were Open or swimmers swimming up from 8&U to 10&U categories. Brooke with her gold medal in the 200 FLY was ranked 2nd in her age group for the event. Similarly Zoe placed 3rd in her age group for the 100 FR and 200 IM placing 10th and 17th in the Open age group. Jordyn Jackon also placed 2nd in the 200 BR and 200 IM in his age group as well as 3rd in the 400 FR placing 10th, 17thh and 13th in the open events respectively. Finally Kyle Micallef placed 3rd in the 100 FR in his age group but 16th overall in the 10&U age category. Points were accumulated for Individual Overall Awards in each age group with SSC athletes placing: Kyle Micallef - 4th (8&U Boys), Thomas Gnaden - 8th (9&10 Boys), Lachlan Bray - 14th (9&10 Boys), Zoe Robertson - 5th (11&12 Girls), Jordyn Jackson - 7th (13&14 Boys), and Brooke Griffin - 3rd (15&16 Girls). Team Aussie Relays were supported by SSC atheltes which were selected based upon their performance and PB's in indivudual events at the meet.
