Swimland's youngest athletes represented SSC and their respective Districts at the Metro and Country 7-10 Encouragement Finals at MSAC November 14-15. In the Country Championships on Saturday, Central Victoria District (D15 - Bendigo) finished 2nd overall with the help of our 6 swimmers Ruby Dyer, Thomas Hawke, Jarrod Slot, Matthew Slot, Emily Turnbull and Ethan Waller. Our swimmers posted 10 PB's in 20 swims improving a total fo 37.39 seconds, 9 top 10 finishes collecting 90 points for D15 with top performances from Thomas Hawke (8yrs) - BRONZE in the 50 BK, and Emily Turnbull (7yrs) - BRONZE in the 50 BK and 50 FR [Emily also posted 100% PB's]. full results At the Metro Championships on Sunday, Metro South District finished 1st overall represented by Bernadine Bailey, Lachlan Bray and Caitlin Williams then also Metro West District finished 4th overall supported by Cameron Arthur, Lachlan Arthur, Lucy Bush-Butler, and Kyle Micallef. SSC athletes posted 16 PB's in 18 events (88.89%) dropping a total of 40.70 seconds, 6 top 10 finishes collecting 86 points (MW - 74, MS - 12). SSC's top performances by Kyle Micallef (8yrs) - GOLD in the 50 BK, SILVER in the 50 FR and BRONZE in the 50 FLY and 50 BR. Swimland currently has a total of 63 swimmers aged 10&U and it would be fantastic to see more of our swimmers participating in these encouraging events. This season we had 18 of our 63 athletes aged 10&U represent SSC in the Heats and of those 13 qualified for the finals! The next major event for SSC swimmers to represent their District will be the Country All Juniors Finals March 13-14 and the Metro All Juniors Finals March 20-21. To qualify for these events swimmers must qualify by swimming at the All Junior Heats that are held in their District each season. All SSC atheltes aged 14&U should participate in their District All Junior Heats competitions.
