At Paul Sadler Swimland, our swimming lessons focus on teaching deep water survival skills. No matter your age or skill level, enrolling in our swim lessons could be one of the best decisions you make!

We teach survival skills at every level. We spend a minimum of 10 minutes per lesson in deep water, where we teach treading water, deep water recovery (safety circle) and mobility on front and back until children have achieved 2 minutes treading water. Our unique approach facilitates accelerated progression, with the aim of having every child in our swim school learning to be safer as soon as possible.

While every child should be supervised around water, arming your children with the swimming skills to save themselves, in the event they‘re in a dangerous or life-threatening situation, is something that our customers are extremely grateful for.

World-class Swimming Lessons

At Paul Sadler Swimland we offer swimming lessons in Australia, and Vietnam. In 1972, our founder Paul Sadler turned his hand to teaching swimming classes that were inspired by his love of swimming (being an avid swimmer himself) and also being a trained teacher. In the 70s there was an influx of backyard swimming pools and with it an increase in the number of childhood drownings. Paul realised there was an opportunity to combine his skills and reduce the risks of drowning by helping every child learn the necessary skills to be safer in the water.

Over the years, Paul developed the premise of teaching swim lessons with a focus on survival skills. This foundation on teaching more than just stroke development has remained in place even as the program has evolved over the past 50 years.  Now, Paul Sadler Swimland has a world-leading learn to swim program that is run by a great team of swimming teachers who help children and adults of all ages engage in stress-free learning and grow a passion for the water, every day.

What our swimmers say about our swim classes

Ella looks forward to her swim lessons. She takes on all the challenges thrown at her by the team and talks constantly at how she loves to swim.

Vanessa Seng - Parkwood Green / July 2024

Since he started his current class, he has grown more confident with putting his head in the water and his kicking has really improved.

Essendon / July 2024

Oliver’s confidence in deeper water been the biggest improvement, along with my growing confidence that if he fell into a pool he would now be able to get himself to an edge, no matter how deep it was. His stroke development is also developing really well. In the past when we’ve gone to public swimming pools Oliver has only wanted to play in water where he can touch the ground. Now he actually asks to play in the deeper water.

As a family who have who will be moving to a house with a pool in a few months time, I feel a lot more confident in Oliver’s ability to be safe around water than I was 6 months ago! A big thank you to all the team at Paul Sadler!

Rowville / August, 2024

When Vi first started, she was too scared to put her face in the water and now she’s learning strokes and confidence. It’s been almost 12 months and that’s a huge change and very unexpected for us

Laverton / August, 2024

The friendliness of the staff members and Vicky is amazing with the children so patient, encouraging and always has a smile for both parents and the children

Hoppers Crossing / May, 2024

Exposure to water and get them independently swimming (with aids) really well, really quickly. I have seen a huge difference in 1 month.

Ringwood / May, 2024

I want to commend the swimming instructors for their excellent care and instruction of my 2.5-year-old daughter Zala during her swimming lessons. They have created a safe and encouraging environment where she is learning to enjoy the water and develop essential swimming skills at such a young age.

Parkwood Green / June, 2024

We are really happy with how our lessons are going. The teachers are engaging and are able to adapt to each child’s individual needs. Matt has been fantastic with our toddler. She loves coming to swimming each weeks, asking specifically when she will be seeing Matt next. Thank you Matt and the rest of the Paul Sadler Melton team!

Melton / June, 2024

The staff are always super friendly and engaging which makes the whole learning environment comfortable and fun for my little one. She always asks to go swimming 😊

Bendigo / August, 2024

Really fun and teachers are always happy to answer any questions we have. They are really encouraging

Bacchus Marsh / May, 2024

My boy started in 2022 and couldn’t even float, let alone swim. Now, just 2.5 years later, he’s swimming 100m freestyle without a problem, is close to mastering his breaststroke and is working on his butterfly – he has also developed a dream to become an Olympic gold medallist for swimming!

Narre Warren / July, 2024

The instructors engage beautifully with the young kids and everyone in the group is so well taken care of. We love to see the incremental improvement each lesson and then scaffolded structure of the program works really well.

Altona / July, 2024

It’s been great watching my daughter use her skills whilst at the pool when we go outside lessons – such as her kicking and paddling and twist slide when entering the pool. All the little things she’s been learning.

Bendigo / August, 2024

We have a confident swimmer who loves her swimming lessons. She has learnt so many important skills such as safe entry, monkey grip and treading water which is fabulous.

Carrum Downs / August, 2024

Frequently Asked Questions

While we advocate that your child should be constantly supervised and within an arm’s reach when they’re around deep water, we understand that sometimes accidents happen. Helping your child become a safer swimmer is a crucial life-skill and statistics show that participating in regular formal lessons decreases the risk of drowning by up to 88%. At Paul Sadler Swimland, we’re here to help!

We understand that kids swimming lessons can be life-saving, but they are also LOTS of fun. From baby swimming lessons through to our kids learn to swim programs, we approach each lesson with the goal of helping children develop important swimming and survival skills in an exciting, engaging, and stress-free way.

We recommend that children attend at least weekly lessons to help build their confidence in the water and develop their swimming skills. For further information about our kids swimming lessons, check out our parent/ child program for children aged 4 months to 3 years, or our learn to swim program for children over 3 years old.

Participating in a swimming lesson isn’t just for children. According to recent research, 1 in 4 adults in Australia have limited swimming experience or are unable to swim at all. To help remedy this statistic, we offer adult swimming lessons at our locations.

At Paul Sadler Swimland we believe that swimming is for everyone and that no one needs to be embarrassed of their skill level. Our team will treat you with the kindness, empathy, and respect that you deserve as you learn to swim or refine your technique.

No matter your age or skill level, Paul Sadler Swimland can help you make significant progress in the pool and become a confident swimmer.

Some swimmers need a little extra support to gain their water confidence and develop their skills. At Paul Sadler Swimland we ensure that every swimmer is able to learn and progress at their own pace, but we are also conscious of the extra care required by any special needs swimmers in our classes.

Our team has great experience ensuring swimmers with special needs feel supported in the swimming pool, and engaged throughout every lesson. We also offer private lessons for any swimmers who need that one-on-one interaction as they learn.

For the best swimming lessons, book now at Paul Sadler Swimland!

When you book in to our swimming lessons for children aged 3 and up, the first step we take is to sign your child up to a free swimming assessment. The reason we assess our swimmers is to ensure that they will be placed in the most appropriate class for their current skill level.

Our swim instructors assess swimmers by observing factors such as:

  • Their confidence in the water
  • Their motor skills
  • Their swimming strokes
  • Their survival skills

While these factors are considered for our Learn to Swim program, in our Parent/ Child program, a swimmer’s age-group plays an important role in the level they are placed in.

Once a child is in a level, they will be assessed each lesson by our team until they are deemed to have mastered the skills of their current level. We allow our swimmers to build confidence at their own pace, and do not force them to progress through the levels before they are ready, nor will they hang around in a level waiting for a set amount of time. When children are ready they will be moved to the next level.

At Paul Sadler Swimland we are members of the Australian Swim Schools Association, the International Swim Schools Association (ISSA), and the United States Swim School Association. We also have more than 25 industry awards, with our most recent achievement being our founder Paul Sadler’s induction into the Australian Swim Coaches and Teachers Association Hall of Fame (ASCTA).

Our times and days vary depending on our location, but across the board our classes run all year round (45 weeks of the year), closing occasionally for pool maintenance, public holidays and Christmas. Check out the location pages to see specific operating hours and lesson times of the centre near you.
